There are a lot of terrific nude photography sites on the net, so when I saw this one presenting itself as the best in the world, I had to see it for myself. The MetModels web site is a creative design, with lots of white space, organized, and easy navigation, a great menu and a search engine. Hunt your model type according to categories like: hair, eye color, or what the model has done to her venus locks.

A pleasant surprise was the site's inclusion of some movies, some live chat, and the heralding of an enewsletter. Since the focus of MetModels is the photography, the addition of 30 movies is quite something. They run from four to 10-minutes and can be downloaded in AVI, MPEG, Windows Media and QuickTime.

Like the photos, these are all softcore, aiming at presenting the beauty of the female form but here it's with movement: poses, display, tease, and even some limited lesbian touching. Interestingly, each movie has a soundtrack to add emotion and feeling to the motion and gestures of the models.

The thumbnails are designed to appear like the cover of a magazine and that adds a touch of class to the featured sensuality and the mood of either the studio lights or the au naturale settings. I have no dispute with the artistic merit of many of the photographers whose work is exposed on this site, but I do have a few comments to make.

I felt that the Egyptian beauty posed against a white backdrop became lost in the setting - only a paper doll image remaining. There are also a few photographers here whose understanding of the erotic needs an upgrade. Some shots lopped off bits of limbs, looking like amateur framing. And some piled on the distance between model and camera, undermining the viewer's ability to taste the subject's eroticism and the generation of passion through a sense of intimacy. These errors do not enhance but detract from the photographers' own aims.

Still, styles vary, and each of these current sets contains between 70 to 150 photos. They come in amazing high-res images (2000x3000; 1200x798) and can be downloaded in ZIP files. The archives currently list about 600 pic sets and new photos are added daily.

With this much updating, and since some of these photographers will grow in their art as they continue to work and strive to make their magic, I look forward to frequent returns to see how the site is reshaping itself.
